pedal with broken seal

I have a pair of older pedals, one of which has a broken seal. I am wondering what I can do to restore it and find a seal if possible.

Bikes: too many bikes from 1967 10s (5x2)Frejus to a Sumitomo Ti/Chorus aluminum 10s (10x2), plus one non-susp mtn bike I use as my commuter

Push it back in, and add some hot melt glue to try to hold it together. Or remove the pedal and slip an improvised donut over the exposed axle to fill the space and keep the seal from popping out, but not so tight as to cause friction.

Or just use the pedal as is until it craps out, then replace it. Pedals like yours are cheap enough to be considered disposables.

Push the seal back in and hold it with a zip-tie?

Another method to hold the seal "in place" is to pick up some "O" rings that will fit over the pedal spindle and fill the space between the seal and the arm (or the spindle's flange as it butts up against the arm). This is how the Stein BB injector kit sealed the BB cups, the "O" rings fit between the cups and arms in this case.

I've long thought that the pedal bearings are the most abused and neglected rolling parts on a bike. Who does pedal overhauls any more? At work I've done, maybe, a half dozen over the last 10+ years. I will often inject grease into pedals that allow it without much effort (like the Look/Shimano spindle/cartridge designs). I don't call this adding lube an overhaul though. Andy.
