Bikes: Razesa Velochrom

What is your opinion on Grand Cru threadless bottom brackets from velo Orange?

What is their overall quality and are they comparable on quality with the best brands?
Thanks in advance

Bikes: 2008 Novara Randonee - love it. Previous bikes:Motobecane Mirage, 1972 Moto Grand Jubilee (my fave), Jackson Rake 16, 1983 C'dale ST500.

Are there no reviews by people who have used them? I would think you could get dozens of first- hand reports.

You screwed the pooch on the threads in the old frame, rendering no threaded BB will fit. ? It will bail you out of that situation.

If you have a Bike Shop Chase the threads to install another threaded BB in your frame that is a better mechanical solution.

Linked, you see a blog and there the situation is an old Raleigh.. they had a thread pitch all their own for the BB cups .
so it was a work around for that situation ..

In the Water, will you pass on a life ring thrown at you when your boat capsizes?

...I have used one of the French threaded ones, and it was of good quality. I've not used the threadless expansion one, though.

Most of the Velo Orange stuff I've seen and/or used is of excellent quality. Like the man said, if your BB threads are history, and you can't go larger to Italian, this is pretty much it.

Bikes: the bikes own me

I installed one and had a very difficult time getting it to seat all the way into the BB housing. I ended up taking it off and still haven't used the frame I bought it for. It seemed to be made very well but I didn't like the way it installed. You would be better off getting the BB shell threads repaired if you can.

Yes my french threaded bb is bad. And nobody in the area has a french tap. So I have been using the threadless and so far so good. But I wanted to hear experiences from people that used them a long time. To test the durability. I had it for a week and no problems so far.

...if you experience further problems with this, there are people down there in the Bay Area who can ream your BB shell a little oversized and tap it Italian.

I know we can do it here, in Sacramento, so where you are it ought to be a snap.

The problem is that the frame was a little damage on the left side of the bb. So when you tried to install the left cap to install the bb, it would not fit. Because the hole was not 100% round. So we decided to trim a little of the frame to make the hle round, so we could use the threadless bb.

I believe that's what the Viscount bikes were made with. I'm riding a 1975 Viscount with the original BB, and it's still working.
