Bottom Bracket Puzzle

So...I've got a Specialized Venge and have a BB question. It supposedly has a BB30 bottom bracket with adapters to fit a Shimano crank. I want to install a GXP crank. Can I use the current adapters or do I need to change. If I need to change them, what would I need?

this is a quote from a website that sells GXP Bottom Brackets.

"The key element that makes them different from a Shimano or FSA bottom bracket is that the left side bearing has a smaller diameter to mate with the stepped spindle of the SRAM crank. This design allows the inner race of the left side bearing to be captured between the crankarm and the spindle, "

it's possible you'll need a BB30 to GXP adapter BB. i think there have been a few threads on this issue recently. IIRC it involves removing the BB30 BB and pressing in a threaded alloy (or steel) sleeve

otherwise, it may be that you'd need the current bb30 to shimano arrangement plus an additional shimano to GPX. sounds complicated!

Thanks. I figured I'd need new adapters . I guess the alternative is to just get a new BB30 crank.
