SLX Brake Bleed

Just finished bleeding brakes. They are Shimano SLX. The front lever has noticeably more free travel than the back. It didn't change from how it was prior. The back lever did & after bleeding has little free play. But also had air in it.
Does the wear on pads effect the free play in the lever? Seems this might be the answer.

Pad wear causes the pads to realign closer to the rotor... increasing the volume of the hydraulic system... so yeah. Top off the oil or install new pads.
