When someone brags about how long they've been able to do a simple task, even as a kid, then yeah, it's not much of a stretch to see that they think they're special:

When I complained to this forum about Presta tubes failing at the joint between the stem and the tube, it was suggested that I should be using the nuts. So now I use them. But as others have pointed out, they tend to multiply in dark corners of the shop, leading to a continuous supply.
Schraders have no nuts, yet nobody has a problem pumping them up.

S/V the most part they are rubber coated up the stem, and jam in the hole adequately.. as I said earlier (another thread?) Schwalbe uses a ring nut on a threaded stem.
