Off road BMX
Hey guys.
I would like to build a bike with short wheels but to use in offroad.
The contect to this is as follows
i used to go on hills and forests 15-20 years ago and now I am doing offroad in a car and camping and I am thinking to combine the 2. So I would like to have a small bike to take it out the trunk and explore the camping area.
Distance/time could be 1-4 hours. Relief - no trail - just forest.
I use to do this on bike on 20in wheels long ago and recently I tried on 26in and I totally didnt like it. In the forest I need that manevrability.
I understand there are not many options to get a ready to buy bike for this - I didnt found.
So I am thinking to build one myself.
So here I am looking for advice for this.
Thinking to build a 22in wheels bike.
I am thinking to get a light frame - smth like this: 2017 MX Expert XL | Redline Bicycles
Then put on it a few things like
- front suspension
- I think I might put handles of a 24 inch as the ones in 22in bike are a bit longer?
- can I have quick release on the wheels - front should work not sure about the rear
- bigger tire on rear if possible
- mud protections
- gears into the wheels
what do you guys think?
I am out of bike world for a long time and I dont know what is new and what can be done...
