Lets see your DIAMOND BACKS!

Diamondbacks, were one of the first BMX bikes to be made over sea's in Japan & Taiwan back in the early 80's. This helped produce a bike that was competitive enough to go against more prestigious brands such as Mongoose, Hutch, Redline, and yet was cheap enough that your avg kid could buy one and enter racing.

A little known fact is Diamond Back is the most winningest team in BMX racing, but for good reason.

Here's my two.

1984 Viper... The Viper from this year has a trimoly frame and is made in Formosa Taiwan. I Just recently picked up a set of araya's and a few other parts for this bike.

This is my next project. An 83 Pacer 500. Little do people know, but for a brief moment the pacer 500 was Diamond Backs top of the line model. It has a 100% 4130 cro-mo frame where as the Silver streak of that year is Trimoly.

Now lets see yours

I have a Diamond Back Formula 1 in my garage, that my son & then daughter used to race. now it's just gathering dust. I used to race with the Dads in the "Old Man's Class" on a GHP 24" cruiser. I had had a Redline & CW Cruiser before that, but the GHP was the best!

Nice Formula 1's were awesome! They were 2nd from top of the line behind Turbo Lights. And they were pretty expensive too at $349.95 (1984). You can read the original review here https://oldschoolmags.com/mags/BMXA_8405.pdf

Do you have a pic?
