Bikes: I own 1 custom bike, and i'm to lazy to list parts

I've only heard good things about the DK MPH. It only costs like 35$ and it comes in like a thousand colors.

Bikes: Solid AA

I've only heard bad things about it, like the fact that it's a Chris King knockoff that breaks easily.

chris king is by far the best headset money can buy and is backed with an awesome warranty. they come in aluminum steel and titanium. a kind headset will probably outlast your next 3 frames.

Being the most expensive does not make it the best. You could buy the $259 ti one, and it won't last any longer than a $40 FSA Pig Pro.

do the fsa's have a 10 year warranty? don't knock it just cuz you can't afford it.

A King headset lasted me about three months. I had a regular Pig on three different frames over five years, though.

Just because it's the most expensive doesn't mean that it sucks (albeit less than the DK MPH sucks), even with the 10-year warranty.

Why stop with Chris King? If you got a hiddenset frame you can waste even more money on Campy Record. The fact is, if it doesn't break, 99% of BMXers can't tell the difference. Worry about splitting hairs over parts that actually matter. Stong and cheap is all you need.

That's pretty much about right. And it's not like I can't afford a CK headset. Spend thousands and thousands on a bike, but that last $100 would kill my budget. Whatever.

the Solid headset is most likeley the best or most used.

but its not the lightest (5.5 oz)considering its made from 4130 and the locking compression wedge thingiemagigger is aluminium (the lock thing).

King headsets are just a name....your buying a name...i would NEVER pay that kind of money for a freaking headset.

chris king is a f'n prick anyway. screw him.

i still have my solid headset from the first run- as well as a handful of my friends too. no point in worrying about weight in a headset, that's just silly.

Yep. Just use some carbon fibre headset spacers...

FSA Pig Pro is cheap and strong. Couldn't go wrong using one.

QBP's selling silver carbon headset spacers now, get yours today! Spaces your headset up to 25% more effectively than black carbon fiber!

Just scored a PIG on ebay for $12.50. Better go buy a new frame to build up now. And some silver CF spacers...

Yeah, apparently they can manufacture carbon thread in like 6 or 7 different colors now. I'm starting to see carbon bottle cages (unpainted!) in like red, blue, green, gold and silver now.

I still refuse to buy plastic bike parts. I think it's Cane Creek that has headset spacers with little pins so they interlock. Don't you hate it when your spacers are spinning loosely on your steerer? Glad they fixed that.

It's a real mixed bag. I won't use CF on BMX parts because of the likelihood of side impacts and the sort of thing that causes composites to weaken and fail. Carbon road frames are a done deal; there's no argument anymore that CF is hands-down the leading material for high-end framesets. I'd even go with quality carbon cranks like Campy or the newer FSA GXP pipe (the old ISIS ones had a habit of coming with crooked spiders out of the box), they've more than proven their long-term merit. Carbon is also only as good as its maker, and it's impossible to tell strong carbon from weak or poorly made carbon without cutting and analyzing it or actually stressing it until it does fail.

I guess we'll find out...I just ordered a new LeMond road bike, the frame is a combination OX Platinum steel spine / OCLV 120 carbon cockpit.

I'll stick with titanium and steel. Of course, I can't ride the skinny tires anymore, so it doesn't really matter.

I was hooked on carbon the second I jumped on a sub-16lb TCR Advance and it nearly took off without me.

My last road bike had a carbon fork, and it was fairly light. But I'll look for an old steel Basso or Ciocc like I used to ride. The new frames are just too stiff and uncomfortable for me. And I'd feel silly riding a sub 20lb bike again, when I weigh close to 200. I'm built like a Russian strongman, so I look funny on graceful bikes.
