Because I’m a sucker for punishment I decided to bite on this BMX at the latest police bike auction. Couldn’t resist the unique frame and possible satisfaction of restoration this one may bring.

So bike was blue with white fork, bars and cranks not sure why you would paint white over white

Big gains today. So much work though, anyone able to decipher mfg date?

Cool design elements on this frame. Not being a BMX guy I hope someone can tell me what the little tabs inside the rear drops are for. Love the seat tube design as well. Pretty unique.

Tabs is for a threaded dropout adjuster.

So I reached out to Eastern Bikes and they tell me this is a Jane Complete frame but can't pin down the year of production. Nice to know what I've got. Work on the frame is near completion, fork, bars,chain ring, stem and crank arms next.

Solid hour with drill and abrasive wheel got the fork bars and one crank done, solid progress and like where this is headed. Rep from Eastern is sending me a gift package with chain tension bolts and seat binder bolt and maybe a couple decals for me. So thankful they’ve been great to communicate with on this.
So plan is frame flat black with bars, fork and cranks gloss black. I’m going to try and get the details on the frame gloss black to show some subtle detail. Hoping to do tan seat and grips. Maybe incorporate some gold in there, stem and chain perhaps. I seem to have an aversion to adding gold bits when I can.

Had a bit of time to focus on the bike today. Got it prepped and primed. Ready for a light sand and some color.

Now, I'm all about bright AF colour schemes and the black on black thing isn't for me - but do you.

It looks like you did a good job of prep, whatever you do is probably going to look great.

victorm....nice job stripping the bike to the raw. I would clear coat the frame/fork and be done

Have had next to no time to work on bikes lately but some progress is being made.

Got a few more bits done up starting to come together now

A quick little dry fit to see how things were looking together. I may actually have a night or two open this week to get the build underway.

Some assembly completed but a ways to go yet. Rear hub not as smooth as I'd like so will have to open it up. Like a fresh coat of gloss black on the rims as well.
