451 Wheel Conversion
 

Does anyone know of an inexpensive way to use a 451 wheel on a bike with brake bosses for 406 wheels? Any help would be appreciated,

451mm is the ISO wheel size of a BMX wheel.

I have no idea what kind of bike would take 406 wheels... kids bike?

Does the frame have clearance for the larger diameter wheels and tires?

Assuming the wheels would clear the frame and fork, the most inexpensive way to get the brakes working is to cut off the brake bosses, and have a muffler shop re-weld them on.

Cheaper to buy a new frame and fork. Especially since your headaches are only just beginning with the brakes there.

451 is the iso for bmx racing bikes. 406 is the iso for all other standard bmx bikes. The 406 is slightly smaller in diameter and is the most prevalent size of BMX wheel.

Heh.. well then. that settles it.

Your cheapest option is still to cut off the bosses and reweld them. (unless of course the frame is aluminum.. then that option might not be as viable)

Though.. depending on how long your dropouts are, and what brake arms you use, you may be able to find something that works.

Are the brake bosses for U brakes or Cantilever?

The brake bosses are for Cantilever...if they were U brakes, I could probably rig something
