A Shadow chain was what was going on with that sprocket guard.

gotcha

Ingleside 02-19-07 11:38 PM

here we go...
i just dusted off my old bike and decieded to get back into riding trails and street after about a 6-7 year break from bmx. i put the bike together back in 99 or 2000 so a lot of the parts are i guess now considered "old school". i'll change things as i start to break them.

Oh ****, that bike is sweet. All the trend-ho's on bikeguide would hate it, but don't let people like that get in the way of having fun on it.

I want some chrome parts now.

Ingleside 02-20-07 01:02 AM

thanks
ehh, i could care less about thoes kids. this kid that used to work at the shop i work at would change out his parts every time i blinked. it gets annoying.
i do plan on lacing up a new set of wheels but im still reading up on cassette hubs. i cant wait to get rid of the phat jacks. they've held up this whole time but its time to move on.

wethepeople 02-20-07 01:06 AM

Only things I would change is smaller gearing and a smaller seat.

Nice bike though.

eightdip 02-20-07 03:57 AM

I love it, the 'old-school' look is great

wethepeople 02-20-07 04:00 AM

I rode a few Demo 9's this summer when I was racing and they had those pedals, pretty damned nice to.

eightdip 02-20-07 04:11 AM

One of my friends borrowed a Demo 8 for a weekend last year. Mad fun to ride but the turning circles are awful :P

wethepeople 02-20-07 04:15 AM

Getting on is half the fun, you can jump on the damn things and land without your feet on the pedals from like, 5 feet up.

Kinda like my bike, except newer, and they handle better...

eightdip 02-20-07 04:19 AM

Haha, it makes no footers really easy, no need to land back on the pedals

wethepeople 02-20-07 04:23 AM

Depends on the jump.

I've been thinking about getting rid of my big rig and picking up a bigger rig.
Mine:

What might be mine:

eightdip 02-20-07 04:25 AM

Only mini ones. Im sure 50 ft doubles would be difficult

wethepeople 02-20-07 04:33 AM

Cant be a berm behind the jump, you'll go over it.

It sucks.

eightdip 02-20-07 04:36 AM

That has happened.

Love the brooklyn, i think their hardtails are really nice aswell. What are the advantages of the multiple sprockets?

wompwomp 02-20-07 08:58 AM

Dang, bimmer. I've always wanted to try one of their park bikes. Or any of their bikes, really.

Profile Cassettes are the way to go.
Odyssey 7ka or Primo 7 Series Balance rims.

Profile cranks are still in style! Don't lose hope!

True all dat except the Primo Balance rims... heard horrible things about those rims. Everyone who has used them has pretty much mangled those things unless they were in the front.

Ingleside 02-20-07 12:53 PM

thanks for the comments.
i'm planning on another set of SS cranks or just some race cranks. im getting this creak that i dont like so its time to let them go. last time i heard something like that i snapped my old profile race cranks a week later. the chainwheel does look huge by todays standards so thats going too.
as for the hubs i'll probabbly go for the profiles since theres so many types out there. i'll just stick with something i know unless i find out they completley suck.

EDIT: holy ****! i just looked at thoes odyssey rims... $89 !!! since when did rims cost that much?!?! damn im out of the loop. i'm just going off what dans has them priced at. damn am i glad i work at a shop.

premiumbmx2005 02-20-07 01:26 PM

the SS cranks are a little over kill.

i think regular race ones will be ok.

There's a few in Campbell River that I rode last April, great bikes.

The purpose of the jackshaft and extra sprocket is to do with the gearing and the amount of travel it has.

eightdip 02-20-07 04:18 PM

Profile race = Really good, no need for SS.

Sun big city rims are amazing in my opinion, cheap, really really strong and not amazingly heavy. My suggestion is to go for them if you want some for cheaper

FitRider 921 02-20-07 04:51 PM

Ody Haz Lights. End of story.
