Video Camera Help

OK, so i have some JVC mini DV video camera. Heres the problem; whenever i turn it on to film it says "Lens Cap" and the screen is black even though the lens cap is deffinatly not on. It does this pretty often but once in a while it will work. So, if anyone knows/thinks they know whats wrong it will be greatly apreciated.

It's broken. And you can't "film". Film is a noun, you want a verb, such as "record". Unless there is some mechanical explanation, I'd say that for some reason, no light is hitting the chip, so it thinks the lens cap is on.

[SARCASM]It's the chip man! You gotta get a new one. I'd go for the Sony 045872498243XZ gold edition.[/SARCASM]

Only Madman and Expat can do that. They can seriously make things up and we would never know.

It's probably OK. A 3CCD model would probably have better image quality (It uses three sensors, one for each color, and a prism to split the light, and it makes the color rendition better).

If you want to be serious about video, a Sony VX1000 would be great, but those would be around $1000 most likely.

I have a Canon digital video camera. The Elura 50. I tried the one similar to the one you are looking at, and it was pretty crappy to hold.

By the way, that custom frame was painted the wrong color. Oops.

Wow, the schools you guys are in must not do a very good job if you couldn't understand that...

As long as you know what a color is, what rendition means, and what a sensor and prism are, the rest could be found out by reading the description on any video camera...

Yeah, but to know how everything works and everything... eh, I don't know much about cameras.

Honestly, a dual axis gyro in front of that prism would be even better. Isn't that how Canon does it?

Something like that. I miss my RB. The lenses were a giant hunk of glass, they didn't even have a focusing mount.

Hey premiumbmx, I recently just picked up the Canon Elura 100. So far, I like it. I have no previous exp w/ video cameras and have only used it once, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. In my research, I found it had pretty high ratings for a camera in it's price range.
The one time I've used it thus far was at a well-lit indoor skatepark. The footage came out ok. By no means pro-quality, but for my own use, it was acceptable. Basically, for a $350 camcorder, I was satified with what I got.
