If the barened is two pieces like two triangles that go together...

...then don't pull it out if the screw isn't in because the second part won't come out and you'll have that bar end in your bars forever.
Screw the bolt in all the way and take a screwdriver and a hammer and bash it out.

Screw the bolt in and hammer them out....or try pulling and twisting with your hand first..usually works for me.

Unsrew the bolt a 1/4 inch, and tap it back in with a hammer, that will loosen up the wedge piece on the inside, and then it should slide right out.

Get Fly nylon barends which are a hell of a lot lighter(cheap too) and come out with a little tapping but yet wont come out when you fall on them.

Anyways i had those barends and they were a pain in the ass to get in and out. Plus they are bulky and gay in general.

Don't cut your bars.

then why does everyone do them?

and you don't need shorter bars to do x-ups you just need to lean back a lot farther. unless your bars are over 28"

Longer bars make x-ups easier.
