opinions on FBM?
well, now that my bike is 80% built (the Sunday), my little bro is wanting to build a bike too. after i talked him out of the Fit Ed frame, hes looking at the FBM Stairmaster. i dont know a whole lot about FBM, so i wanted to get opinions on their frames in general. i bought a barely used The Take Time frame, and im also trying to get him to just buy it from me, since from what i understand, FBM, and The Take are alot alike. so any help is appreciated. thanks guys.

FBM makes the Take frames.
What's wrong with a Fit ED and why would you talk him out of getting it? The Stairmaster seems like a nice frame. Not to bash FBM but i was suprised to hear that they changed thier warranty to like 2 years instead of life. Probly because so many people are cracking AutoPilots and the newer Deployers. |
well, hes just starting out, and there really is no reason to learn brakeless right away. thats the only reason. im sure the FIT Ed is a great frame, but not for a beginner.
|
ahhh you should give me that time frame. haha, but yeah i wouldnt even buy him a custom bike to begin with. just get him a cmplete since he will probally just forget about it in a year or two.
|
well, i dont believe it will be something he will just get out of, he stuck with skateboarding for 8 years, and hes just wanting to try something different. he straight up told me that he doesnt want a complete, since he has the money to build a custom, so im down to help him out.
i might sell the "time frame", not sure yet. i also bought a S&M Stricker from a friend. it was in decent shape, i painted it a HOK candy green, and put on a couple of S&M stickers, and ill throw that one up for sale soon also. |

the Stricker is 20.25 TT, and my bro is dead set on 21. and the Stricker was originally white, it was just scratched up a good bit. figured i have a better chance reselling it with brand new paint. besides, i paint cars for a living, so buying used frames and repainting them cost me nothing. they look a million times better than your average spray can job also
|
Oh. Well sell it then.
What size is the Time frame? |
i believe its a 20.7.
so there is pretty much no difference in a Take, and FBM. i knew they were made in the same warehouse, but wasnt sure if they were exact. |

If your little bro want's a custom bike..build up an S&M, T1, Solid, Sunday or FBM. They are your best bets. Sunday and Odyssey make awesome forks and bars. Stay away from Demolition, Shadow, SNAFU, Stolen, Eastern and Mosh and you'll be good! I sure hope those companys don't read this site. |

Kinetic, i agree, i wish he would just build up the Take, or S&M, but he wants nothing to do with either lol. i dont know why, but hey, its his bike. also, you really think Shadow parts are bad? i mean, i dont really know, all i have had from them are thier big bars, and seat. (big bars are for sale by the way) i have just heard alot of good about them. |
Their hubs suck.
And I want a Time frame :( to bad they're to big. |

Nothing they make is really worth the money. And all their new parts and basically copies of stuff that other companys are making...except the chain and seat. Example: Look at a Macneil sprocket then the new Shadow. |

Suit yourself though! |
for hubs I would go with demolition. Odyssey hubs arent too great, IMO.

Better then demolition IMO.

I agree with premium. I was amazingly impressed with the Bulimia hub. Apparently road bikers are complaining that they pay £600 ($1000) for a wheel that is the same feel as one for bmx that can be bought for £70 ($130)
