it's not that great by any stretch of the imagination. how much do you weigh? how tall are you? how much can you spend?

5'7 120ish up to maybe $400. keep in mind i am a beginner, this looks like a ood beginner bike. I am planning on telling the guy to swap a primo dirt monster tire in front because i might be doing some trail riding. The only bad thing about the bike in my eyes is that it has a 39t chainwheel and 14t freewheel.

For someone your height, a 5'7" toptube may be a bit small, and the parts will most likely not hold up anyway (especially the frame). Just get a DK 6 Pack for $300 and you will be fine... or you could go with a Stolen Wrap bike, which is what I would go for if I were you.

I was going to get the stolen wrap but no bike shops sell stolens around here. one about an hour or so away is checking if they can special order the stolen wrap.

Most bike shops can just order them in without such a hassle... or you could just buy it online (or you could tell them you will buy it online and they will make sure to get that bike in their shop).

Stolen bikes is distributed by Greay Comb distribution www.greasycomb.com
So your local shop will have to contact them to get one. Shouldn't be a problem for any shop to do that.
And I think that Stolen has some pretty decent completes as well.
