How can 23 lbs. 14 oz. be a bit heavy.

Punx 08-07-08 09:18 AM

Is that heavy for Flatland?

PRIMO22 08-07-08 09:58 AM

I wish my bike weighed 23 lbs.

sweatpants 08-07-08 10:03 AM

weight is a very personal thing. i've had a crankless setup due to a back injury a couple years ago-that was around 17lbs. For me, that was TOOO light, but it kept me on one wheel. 20 lbs is my magic number now, give or take.

sweatpants 08-07-08 10:08 AM

and yes, over time, i think a lot of riders end up with lighter bikes. when i started 5-6 years ago, my bike was around 30lbs. going lighter happens over time. i'm pretty open about being a weight freak tho. less weight=less fatigue=riding longer and harder with less soreness. word.

but seriously, that Strowler is on point. I hear they ride very well.

I know weight is personal. But I can get over soreness its not hard. But if I had the money to get new parts and make my bike light i would.

$600. My mom told me to build up a complete bike and figure out how much it would be. Easily over $1000. But she also said we could split it between my birthday and christmas and have me pay for a lot of it.

That's exactly what I was getting at in my earlier post, that over time (years), most people want to go lighter. I'm getting what ya'll might consider old, and riding everyday at some point starts to wear down a body. I can't always snap back to 100% the next day if I've ridden a whole lot the day before. anyways. idk

And I see you ride flatland. You don't take a beating when you ride everyday. I ride dirt, street and park. After I ride I feel like I just got the sh*t beat out of me sometimes.

sweatpants 08-08-08 08:34 PM

you haven't seen me ride :)
trust me, I get worked over pretty thoroughly.

Street rider 08-09-08 10:22 AM

haha.

and to answer punx from like a week ago, im gettin the Failure Roseanne bars, the Eastern Forged sprocket, and the Alienation v2 freecoaster, which im gonna have laced to one of my older rims that i kept around.

I hate you lol. I wish I had t5he money to get a freecoaster.

Punx 08-09-08 12:12 PM

Freecoasters seem pretty cool.

Street rider 08-09-08 02:35 PM

im pretty lucky to have the money. and im pretty stoked that im gonna be gettin one. now i just have to wait for that check to come in the mail.

fuzzbox 08-09-08 02:42 PM

freecoasters are for wussies

Punx 08-09-08 03:21 PM

I don't get why people buy freecoasters...is it because they can't learn how to ride fakie?

fuzzbox 08-09-08 03:55 PM

So they don't have to pedal backwards

Street rider 08-09-08 05:34 PM

not true. i spent 3 hrs a day for an entire week just riding up ramps and then going back down fakie, and doing 180's and just riding fakie, just to learn it.

i want a freecoaster because i think that it has its own unique style, and every rider can take it and make it his own.

not having to backpedal is just a bonus.

Thanks. It sure beats the 30 pounder I ride for park.

bmx2478 08-09-08 11:16 PM

Ok about freescoasters:
1. They are not easier than going fakie with a cassette, if anything they are harder.
2. They are nothing but trouble and i would avoid them.

It's okay. He's going to go straight to hell for buying anything from that company.
