I didn't even notice that. At the time I didn't have a chain breaker so the LBS had to shorten and install. Still rides fine. Half the time I'm rolling backwards anyways so it evens out...

fuzzbox 09-06-08 12:56 PM

How are the pedals?

A few small things have changed since the picture, all the recent stuff is in the parts list

I've been out of BMX for about 20 years, but I've never seen a left-hand drivetrain! Also, what's with the tiny sprockets? Is that a new trend? Didn't exist when I was BMXing. Is it fast or quick?

cyclingfatty 09-08-08 12:23 PM

Who's the oldes BMXer here? Have we established that? I love BMX bikes, but over thirty, can't get over the funny looks... I like the maneuverability.

FuzzyRyder 09-08-08 01:06 PM

We use cassette hubs now that allow us to run a smaller gearing yet maintain the same gear ratio. ie: 44 -16 is the same as 28 -10 or 25 - 9. The smaller sprocket is lighter stronger, and out of the way for ramp tricks and grinds. the only real downfall is running a cassette driver that is only 8 or 9 teeth is a lot harder on your chain and things wear out quicker. As long as you maintain your bike properly and check your chain regularly you shouldn't run into any problem.

eightdip 09-08-08 03:53 PM

Well that takes me back haha
My bike looks nothing like that anymore, still need to wack up a pic

There's a "how old are you?" thread somewhere about, it should still be on the first or second page.

They work fine backwards. Mines been like that for a few months now and i always used to break chains.

I'm just too lazy to fix it.

I like it. What is with the pad though?

dansjustchillin 09-18-08 10:46 AM

The pad is an original california lite> it's reversable. I love it!

Street rider 09-18-08 06:27 PM

so you would sacrifice your bike looking sick, just for a reversible pad that a five year old should ride it?

other than the pad, i love the bike. lots of fly stuff, but they make some quality parts.

FuzzyRyder 09-18-08 09:15 PM

man whats wrong with you, thats dope! thats better then 95% of what kids are riding these days.

live4muzic2 09-18-08 09:47 PM

Pads are awesome. keep them.

dansjustchillin 09-18-08 11:32 PM

I'm not a kid and i'm keeping the pad for sure. Only a kid would knock it.

eightdip 09-19-08 01:12 AM

That pad is sick! good thinking ;)

minichamp31 09-22-08 04:39 PM

The pad is cool, but they unfortunately don't work. Still better than the nice old toptube to the boys though.

BrooklynBanks 09-23-08 03:44 PM

Lol

live4muzic2 09-23-08 08:56 PM

oh and nice rare sproket.

spray painted most of the parts with black chalkboard paint. Nankai coaster runs on all loose-ball bearings, no cages. Povah-ized stem. it's not the trendiest bike and it's a little heavy compared to some, but it works for me. most of these parts were bought second-hand but i would not have my bike any other way.
