Nice bike, you should of put color on it. Everyone has black bikes nowadays, trendy. How much did it cost?

Punx 10-28-08 07:38 PM

That is so sick.
Yeah how much was it and how much does it weigh.

abowler10154 10-28-08 07:44 PM

Thanks guys, I just went all out on a bike. It cost $1500, but on danscomp, it came out to like $1200 because they had a 20% off promo code i used. I added everything up on danscomp and it came out to 22lbs. I havent weighed it on a scale yet. And im not concerened about weight. I just picked out strong parts that fit my style. Expensive parts just happen to be light, ha.

I was gonna do either purple spokes or purple rims, but i like colored spokes better. Thought they would stand out more, but i love them anyway. Why the hell did i write such a long post for the 2 simpliest questions...

minichamp31 10-28-08 08:25 PM

I'm kind of doing the same thing with my custom that I'm getting, but I'm spicing it up a little bit with bright blue spokes and a blue stem with white bars and maybe white forks.

My bike check! Worth a look

I have been riding BMX for 7 years. My set up remained largely un-changed for 4 years. But since I work at a bike shop, I decided to build The ultimate Bike.

Frame : S&M LTF 21"TT
Fork: Sunday Morning 2.1
Stem: Fit DL Purple
Bars: Sunday Triumph
Cranks: Profile 175 mm
Sproket: United 28t
Chain: Shadow
Pedals: Odyssey Twisted PC
Seat post: Shadow Conspiracy
Seat: Metal
Tires: Fit FAF
Front Wheel: Shadow hub w/ aluminum hardware 36h. Shadow strait gauge spokes. Proper rim
Rear wheel: Proper Magnalite 48H 10t cassette. Shadow strait gauge spokes. Proper rim
Pegs: Shadow pegs
Grips/ barends: Animal

Both my wheels were hand build and stresses by me as well as the rest of the bike. Nothing is painted, they are all stock colors.

The bike weighs 23.4 LBS

BMX Race Bikes 10-29-08 11:25 PM

Did you build it ?
good job !

fuzzbox 10-29-08 11:27 PM

Nice bike, I eventually want that frame...maybe, still debating, but it will be a while till I get one so it doesn't matter. There is a bike check thread btw.

sonic six13 10-29-08 11:38 PM

yes of course i built it!

I know there is a bike check thread, but i figured i would make my own

fuzzbox 10-29-08 11:43 PM

You really shouldn't because it might start a trend of other people doing it and this place will be spammed with a bunch of bike checks. Next time please post it in the designated area.

abowler10154 10-30-08 03:47 AM

Nice bike, i like the colors. Why does everyone have shadow chains?

jwhit75 10-30-08 05:21 AM

wrong thread. you nor the bike are that special.

Because they are very strong. Each plate overlaps the one before it, you can get your chain super dialed. and you also get even chain stretch. so your a lot less likely to develope a tightspot

your just an *******

jerseybmx 10-30-08 10:30 AM

i have had good luck with mine. and i do a lot of street riding pegless.

And what do you mean its not matching?

wheel set matches. seat post matches the hubs grips, pedals, and stem all match

altogether tho nothing matches. all purple would go, but purple and blue do not. the red against the spokes and pegs being that weird yellowish green dont go.

matchign is not as simple as saying "i have these three parts match, but they dont match the rest of my bike." it's just looks jumbled is all i'm saying. it's a dialed build with the exception of the chain.

certain colors flow together. for example, simplicity is key. keep to mostly one color with accents of soemthign else. like raw frame, raw forks, raw bars, blue rims, yellow spokes and hubs, everything else black.

you're tryign to do too much. it's kinda hard to teach somebody how to match.

fuzzbox 10-30-08 04:25 PM

Purple and blue do go together. Proof, even though I'm not doing any better it still kind of matches at least in the beginning it did because it had chrome forks and bars to go along.

However purple, blue, red, and lime green do not. Red and green are contrast colors so it doesn't please the eyes.

Wow, getting a little technical here, lol.

minichamp31 10-30-08 07:38 PM

It's got good specs, but the colors are ick. And get a smaller front hub guard, that thing is ridiculous. Nice bike though.

He should just take off the hub guard to save weight. Just kidding. But really, no one uses hub guards.

Not so much.

sonic six13 10-31-08 09:57 AM

It is a g-sport hub guard. Where are you been for the past few years lol. it is made of a very strong plastic and it does a very good job of protecting the spokes. I would rather have the guard on my bike then trash my spokes when riding street.

And preety much the whole point of my bike was to have a crazy color schemed bike with out any flow.
