No, i know what those are for. But the pad's that are on your toptube, stem, and all that. Not pad's you wear.

They're basically just to help you so if you hit your bars or stem or slip a pedal and fall on your toptube. Mine don't really help with the last one though, as it's really thin and small. But you're supposed to have them on your bike when you race but a lot of people don't.

Yeah, they're basically useless. But depending on the track, the rules require them.
