The geometry and feel of this bike is superior to anything I've ever ridden. Seriously manuals for days on end with ease. Bike size, setup, and geometry are so important in finding the bike that best suits you and your riding style. It's not just about weight.

Other bikes I've owned or own: Fit Mike Aitken Series II 20.5" and Fly Diablo 20"

i ride a modified gt thud

pacdeath28 10-12-05 12:08 PM

I ride a 1988 GT pro freestyle tour team model, of which I am the original owner, having bought it just before I turned 16. It is all original except for the araya rims and redline hubs I replaced the originals with a short time ago.

BMXer1 10-15-05 04:38 PM

i ride a diamondback venom, and i know its a crap bike, but i replaced all the parts an it has alex rims, odessy 41 thermal forks, cromoly bars, primo powerbites, 36t gearing, a cassete hub, KMC kool cain, kenda k-rad tyre and odessy tyre, and primo grips. i know a guy at the shop i bought it and he got me a special deal that my frame has 10yr warranty that covers everything exept breaking it intentionaly and getting hit by a car, so my bike isn't so bad after all!Once i bent forks/bars/cranks that is! but the unchanged completes are crap in my opinion.

Its a pretty standard setup.
US Bottom Bracket, Tank headset, Mostly Odyssey parts (Hazard lites/cassette/cranks/etc).
The brake setup was my way of getting around the Seat tube and having a short straddle cable.
..and the Grind plate is mad of Delrin, with countersunk stainless hardware.

..and yes, 22" is a big bike. My last frame was 21" and I found that I was constantly cramped for space. I guess growing up on an MTB is what causes me to like a longer bike.. that and my height =D

xxmoclov42xx 10-19-05 07:32 PM

nice bike im gonna get some picks of mine soon

You have lot of Odyssey parts, but you don't even have their brakes?! Come on Odysey Evolvers sre the greatest! Just kidding, that bike looks awesome. How much does it weigh?

CMcMahon 10-19-05 10:49 PM

Actually, 990s (or Shimano U-Brakes) are the greatest. The only flaw of the 990s is that they don't use threaded posts for the pads.

Do you mean the brake pads are non-threaded?

lyledriver 10-20-05 08:42 AM

Thanks guys,

I would LOVE to find a Shimano XT U brake for my bike, but I doubt that will ever happen.
I'll probably run these 990s until the bushings wear out, or something snaps.
What are the advantages of a threaded post? I've never had issues with setting mine up.

The grind plate was more of an experiment than anything.
I had some Delrin laying around at work, and I decided to put it to use.
I find its quite slippery on coping, but it does catch on concrete

Oh.. and I think the bike weighs in around 31lbs.

kenstogie 10-20-05 09:11 AM

I have like 5 bikes but only two are worth a darn.
Trek 6700 with the Hayes brakes (they suck) sitting in a box and XT V rimmers on there
Specialized S-works with the full Ultegra group. pretty darn lite and quick as a flash.
