no, it moves alot, ill get it al straightened out hopefully

Maybe the bars are too small for the stem or something. That would be really weird for a complete bike though.

Well, i just got the bike back from the bike store. The guy removed the paint on the bars and "so far" they dont move anymore. I'll bring an allen key for a while when i ride until i'm sure they dont move anymore. =}

chicagotypewrit 03-18-08 06:06 PM

what stem is on your bike and try taking the paint off the knurling on the handlebars(the part of the bars that the stem clamps too) that should help. i have also before put groves in my stem with a knife and i have never had my bars move on me

chicagotypewrit 03-18-08 06:10 PM

didnt know this thread was 3 pages long so i hope your bars dont move anymore

abowler10154 03-18-08 06:26 PM

Yeah, the guy at the bike store removed the paint on the bars where they clamp to the stem, and i've had people ride on the handlebars and they dont move. So if they do move, i will put cuts into the stem like you said. (i've heard someone who has a kink roc, had the same handlebar problem and put cuts into the stem and they never moved on him again. Thanks for the reply anyway.
Did you make the cuts deep? Or just enough to take the paint off? And were they diagonally or horizontall?

chicagotypewrit 03-18-08 06:34 PM

horizontal and no they werent deep at all. just do as much as you think you need but dont go crazy its just so the knurling on the bars have something to bite into. and no problem i like tryin to help out the younger crowd in bmx

thanks alot gonna try that tommorow. I might as well ask this also. The brakes dont sound right, not squeaky, but like really loud and bad...

check the pads for grit, debris, etc.

abowler10154 03-19-08 04:04 AM

brakes are fine now, just need to tighten them

chicagotypewrit 03-19-08 02:53 PM

loud brakes are awesome you piss everyone off with them

wethepeople 03-19-08 04:46 PM

Including yourself.

Not to mention they make your bike appear to be complete ****.

chicagotypewrit 03-19-08 05:43 PM

how does it make your bike look like **** wouldnt be sound and even then that doesnt mean anything its just the brake pads vibrating against the rim

wethepeople 03-19-08 06:35 PM

I didn't say _look_ like a piece of ****, I said appear. What do you mean wouldn't be a sound? You just said squeaky brakes were sweet because they piss people off. Get your **** straight son.

Maybe I just take more pride in my bike, if something makes a noise on any of my bikes besides the DH bike I fix it.

chicagotypewrit 03-20-08 12:08 PM

i meant to say instead of appear you should have used the word sound. since squeaky brakes are a sound. wahts with everyone gettin so shaddy when you make a suggestion? and also my bike is very solid. i do take pride in my bike the paint looks like **** but it runs very smooth

fuzzbox 03-20-08 02:32 PM

When I brake it is so loud that I laugh.

chicagotypewrit 03-20-08 06:19 PM

and when you sit down it tickles your man parts

Trekbikedude 03-20-08 08:41 PM

It's best to get your bars cut at with a knife when they're carbon.

live4muzic2 03-20-08 08:44 PM

My rim is pretty bent and hoppy so it squeeks then stops then changes pitches.

I hate it but i laugh also.
