why are threads closed sometimes?

why do you shut them down? that fi the ppl aren't done talking? or someone has something to say. isn't that a bit much? powertrip? maybe im wrong and you will enlighten me.

I'm not the moderator, but I'll answer this one as well as I can. Some threads are closed because the discussion in the thread sometimes gets away from the original question. At other times, people have started exchanging insults over some of them, and closing a thread is preferable to banning someone outright.

Others are closed sometimes because the same question is posted in two or more threads at once, when there is only a need for one, and it's easier if all the answers are in the same thread.

You know, I don't believe I've ever seen a 20-inch cyclist. Come to think of it, I've never seen a 20-inch anybody before. That's pretty small.

Kinda reminds me of a joke I heard about a man that walks into a bar carrying a tiny piano and a 12-inch pianist...
Of course, that's not really appropriate; this isn't the joke forum.
