I want to

paint my fork and bars flat black.
I have some questions since i have no experience, my friend is good at it so he is going to do it when i sand it down and get the paint. I was wondering like about the sanding part, what kind of sand paper. Also if i used clearcoat would it make it glossy again.
Thanks a lot.

I just found random sandpaper in the garage and used that. I used like 150 grit in the beginning and 220 grit before I painted. Just don't use gloss clearcoat if you want to clearcoat it.

Is there a different type of clearcoat that isn't gloss.
So 150 then 220 grit, works good?
thanks.

Yes. It should say on the can if it is glossy or not. Turned out fine just be patient with it. Don't rush and let things dry.

So if it's not gloss, it won't change the color?
I won't, i'm not painting it but i will tell my friend that.

I took a bench-grinder and cut up a sanding belt and put the pieces where the grinding disk should be. It worked great.
