brakes...
i just ordered the demolition vulcans allong with the fly pads and cable.
not worried about the pads and the cable fly always pulls through but i havent heard much about the vulcans. have you heard anything about them? |
They look fine to me. Properly installed and adjusted they should do exactly as they're intended to do, stop a bike.
http://www.vitalbmx.com/product/guid...an-Brakes,1173 Decent reviews on them. BTW, the brake I wound up going with was the Dia Compe 990. The freebie bike I wound up with was brakeless because it was removed, so I chose to put a rear brake system from lever to gyro to u-brake on it. Wasn't cheap, you can get close to $ 100 into that at the LBS without trying very hard. Mine works great and am pleased with it. Could've spent more, even could've gone a little cheaper, this is a happy medium though. Pretty much what I installed: http://www.treefortbikes.com/product...FFS-Black.html http://www.amazon.com/Black-Ops-Cali...757643&sr=1-24 http://www.danscomp.com/510003.php I bought it thru the LBS and it was pretty much marked up for S&H and a few bucks more for profit. I paid about $ 40 for the Dia-Compe, $ 30 for the Odyssey Gyro and $ 20 for a single Black Ops brake lever. I could've done a little better on-line, but these were locally convenient and a few blocks from home. Prices on those on-line links don't include S&H, but I can't imagine being anything more than $ 6-8 more for each item if ordered separately. Like I said, I think they dinged me here and there for each item a little, shame on them, or really shame on me for allowing it to happen ? |
Price is about right. I just added up what it cost would me for the brands I know and trust and it came in about $100. If something is only a few bucks more, the local shop will get the business.

well talk about perfact timing...
i just ordered them from my boss like a week ago and i came home to find my bike gone... they took it right outta my house... |
Dude...they seriously just jacked it right out of your house?
|
Wait...What? Dude, that is really messed up.
|
yea im workin on figureing out who took it.
so far i got the name of some kid that knows who took it... idk i hope i get it b4 they strip it |
Sorry to hear man. A stolen bike is never good. I'd be devastated, but I hope you find the kid who jacked it. Beat him with a sock full of padlocks.
|
Skip the sock, baseball bat wrapped with barbed wire. Theres people in my home town who keep them in their trucks haha
|
That's just hardcore. ^ My buddy used to keep an aluminum bat in his car, but it's mainly used for mailboxing. lol.
|
Course, where I'm from, there was at least one guy that also had a noose in the toolbox of his truck...
|
Curious, what make, year and model they stole from you ?
|
idk what year but i know its new.
it was a simple debut (blue) red shadow raptors laced to an black alenation delinquent in the back and a blue deviant in the front profiles with ti stindle (solid) odyssey dirt forks shadow stem sputnic skyline bars and this costom seat i made it looks pretty beast ill put up a pic |

Sounds like they knew what they were taking. If the police aren't already involved with the kids parents, they should be, of the one that knows ! And if the cops can't get anything out of him, you need to torture that one until he rats out his buddies and they produce one customized Simple Debut (blue) to your satisfaction.
|
weiil i found the kids that did it and they got arrested on like 2 fellonys and several other charges.
and i got some of it back... frame partally sanded, bars also partialy sanded, sprocket painted flat black, front hub with the serial number sanded off the flange, stem un touched and my forks same as i lest them... still missing front rim ans spokes, whole back wheel cranks pedals ans several other small parts... |
Glad to hear you got at least some of it back. Hearing about kids or adults stealing bikes just takes me to a place that is not healthy...for the thief.
|
Well, I hope the court makes them replace the whole thing for you from prison or wherever they put them. I'd really show up at their sentencing and get with the prosecutor and tell the judge that what you got back is unacceptable and an unusable mess. You're talking about kids here, so the best thing about it is they have parents that can pay, deeper pockets ! I don't know what you have into the bike for a build, but I'd say replacement front to rear is in order for just the bike is a reasonable expectation. Then they can have & keep the one they stole, with a bill and a juvenile record.
|
Well good luck getting the rest of those parts replaced man
|
"I don't know what you have into the bike for a build, but I'd say replacement front to rear is in order for just the bike is a reasonable expectation."
i ggot just under $1,300 before shipping, tax and labor. |
Are you saying thats what you have in the bike now, or what you were awarded after getting your bike back?
|
Yeah, see $ 1,300 is quite a bit of money to let this go as a couple/few kids gone wrong. They do have parents and the adults can divy this up to really make it right. I think the judge will see it your way too. You know what you might do ? List components and track down prices on a spreadsheet. Where components are discontinued items, price out an equivalent alternative.

Oh ok. Well hopefully you'll be awarded the full amount by the courts or whoever is dealing with this. And how old were these kids?
|
15 and 18
