Almost all Odyssey stuff is good.

In my opinion though, if you are looking at steel pegs, almost all ARE the same. There are some that may be heat treated 4140 instead of 4130. The K-Mart ones are most likely mild steel instead of 4130. But, even they will last a rider who isn't hard on pegs for many years.

Unless you are looking for a weight saving peg, which means it will NOT be as durable as a good 4130/4140 peg, then look at what is cheapest.

I just took a quick look at www.danscomp.com and the Odyssey j-pegs are the 4140 heat treated pegs - $10.00 each - so all 4 is 40 bucks. A step down are the GI pegs (odyssey) which are $15.00 a pair. The Poverty pegs are the least expensive, but I would support Odyssey over Poverty (dans brand) any day for a few extra bucks.

Bikes: the damn Terrible One

I don't buy any pegs that are not heat treated. Heat treating the peg makes them so much harder, they slide a million times better. I have ground a flat spot in non-heat treated pegs in a day. I ran a set of Kink's for years, and they are nearly completely round. I also have a set of Kink lites which don't wear much either. Can't go wrong with Kink.

not to be a smart @$$ but do they really have pegs that are classified for grinding and pegs that are classified for tricks only?

Damn, I was supposed to say that. Knurled pegs aren't really for pegs, so yea, there are grinding pegs.

I've gotta add my: What the HELL are you talking about? Odyssey is making some of the best warrantied, highest quality stuff on the market these days and is working hard to improve any products they have to be better every year. You sound like a brand name ***** instead of an informed rider.

Not only are there pegs specifically for flatland - there are pegs designed specifically for skatepark use on steel rails, not concrete. There are definitely pegs that are better for street and concrete grinding vs. pegs that are for flatland or for light street use or stalls only. A really strong, fast, durable peg is what constitutes a good grinding peg.

I think the person above who spoke about heat treated pegs was spot on.

The Pro Factor rim is far from old school, first of all. And secondly, all of that crap that they made in the '80s and early '90s is long gone.

Name one current product.
