I rode BMX before it was called BMX. We had converted Stingrays, maybe with a knobby tire if it was owned by a rich kid. Back then, we called it "riding". Rode our bikes to whatever sort of track we could trample into the dirt and raced until the sun went down or someone got hurt. Most fun I ever had as a kid.
That OG enuf for you?

merkel, you have me beat. but in 1980 i had a 76 scrambler which was schwinns official attempt at converted stingrays. we road in a vacant piece of land in evanston il where older kids had rigged up kind of a nice track. it was called deachers pit. then some developers starting building houses on it and that was that. i think one of the kids took a dump in one of the half built houses and thereafter the cops would chase us away...lol. here is a pic of a 76 scrambler fwiw.

Cool bike. I remember those. Did a lot of riding in construction areas. More fun than any playground. I never took a dump in a house, but we peed freely and looted scrap lumber for ramps. We also scavenged for deposit bottles- at 5 cents apiece it was ready cash for us kiddies.
My Stingray completely disintegrated around 1976. Everything was trashed. Poor bike.

Me, sometime in 1973; I was ten or eleven years old. I'm the one on the bike, my younger sister is sitting on the ground. The bike was called a Mossberg MX (made by the same Mossberg company that's known for gun making), it was much better for jumping off of ramps than the typical banana seat bike of the time.

"OG" has a lot of different meanings, depending on who you ask. I raced in the early 80s... to some that's OG, to others OG is pre-80s. So count me in if you'd like...
...I just got a GHP Twenty4 and hit the Orange Y track in Orange, CA this past Sunday. My first time on a track in over 20 years. It was awesome.

I started racing BMX over a decade ago when I was 9 years old. Does that count?
Never mind that I stopped racing when I was 13...
