I have to ask when you actually saw or rode any of the mentioned K2 BMX bikes(Maintime series), considering that they haven't made any of those models in years?

There are a few clearance houses selling them off (ediscountbikes.com) at pretty decent prices. Oftentimes you see them on ebay. I got my boy a Maintime Expert (smaller top tube) for Christmas for $130 or so. Shipping is $40+. The components are only OK, the frame seems verrry nice, all aluminum, chain tensioners, etc.

thanks for the input....Can you expand on what you mean by crap......Just looking to get back into racing after 20 years. Used to ride a 15 lb Cycle Pro that I built(when they were good). Yep another one of those older guys go through pre-mid life crisis and looking to do something fun to stay in shape. Fortunately there are a couple of tracks in my area. Not looking to spend a ton of dough (as I just spent over a grand on my road bike) and dont want a cruiser. $200 or under and dont mind used.

by crap, i mean it weighed alittle much, the hub bearings definitly didn't spin to well, and the cranks didn't spin as smooth as they should. for 200 bucks?... hmm try goin to danscomp.com and looking at the bikes they have, FreeAgent bikes may have a reasonibly priced racer, or atleast one made for dirt. Redline bikes (not on danscomp) make decent bikes for good prices too, check them out as well. (redlinebicycles.com, i believe)
and i looked into the K2's more. the one i rode is just a noname bike they make, if u can understand that... some brands make their good bikes (ones on their site usually) and then they have their lower priced utility ones. I've never rode one of their better bikes, but i looked at their parts lists and they look like quality bikes. keep in mind their decent bikes will cost more. (alot more than 200). good luck finding the right one.

It's a K2 Shovel, a run of the mill, mediocre, Taiwanese complete bike.

And for future reference, don't bump up threads that have been dead for a month.
