20" on BMX track

Hey everyone. I have a few buds who ride BMX, and there is a track nearby that i started riding at. Any advice for mountain bikes on BMX tracks? Like what gears are best and stuff. I hope to just make the jumps bigger and use it primarily for jumping.

Down here you ARE allowed to take your mt. bike on the track as long as you have your NBL or ABA license. I believe they do want you to zip tie your quick releases and you still need to use a pad set. There was even discussion about having a seperate class for mt. bikes!

Either way, have fun!

Gearing I'd say big ring up front like 42 and middle cog about 16 or 17 in the back! My BMX cruiser is a 41:16 but that's 24" wheels. So basically play around till you find a good gear.

Well its not an organized track, and my freinds and I are the only ones who use it so it doesn't matter.

i ALWAYS use a hemet. I've had 2 minor concusions while wearing a helmet. I would NEVER think about not using one.

You should use knee pads, elbo pads, helmet, gloves, and shin pads. If you want the jumps bigger you could tell the person who owns the track to make them bigger for you. If he wants money for it. Try giving him 10 dollars if you want the jumps 3 feet. If you want the jumps 4 feet give him 18 dollars. If you want it higher tell the person who owns the track to make them higher. If the person who owns the track wants more money to make the jumps higher tell the person how much money he wants. On the track you can mountain bike. Good luck. Bye.

Bikes: Standard 24" Badd xl 20"

get a cruiser. in the aba you can ride a mtb in the cruiser class. It would be hard to be competitive on a mtb I think.
