Hey is there anything I should know before doing this? If someone could show me some close ups of handel bars that have been cut would help alot. Iam going to the bike shop to get some breaks so should I just let them do it or is it really easy my dad got pissed when I told him that i would take it there cuz he said I can do myself and yeah a hole speech....He has all the pro pipe cuters so I should just do it myself. Also should i cut the seat post or just lower it down? Thanks

if your dad has the pipe cutters, have him help you.

I used a hack saw for many years, worked fine too.

just becarefull you don't cut too much or you will be buying new bars.

as for your seatpost, that is up to you. I'd leave it long until you know exactly where you want to run your seat. if you decide you want to raise it up, you can if you don't cut it.

cutting it won't help you be any better of a bike rider but spending time on your bike will.

i used a hacksaw . my friend cut his bars with a pipe cutter. it was much easier, but his bar-ends wouldn't fit. i'm not sure if that's the reason why. remember to measure them and if you have brakes leave room for the lever

if you want bar ends to fit, file the insides with a file. a pipe cutter will usually leave a small burr on the inside of the bars.

Tape measure, a white-out pen, a hacksaw, and a metal file for deburring the ends.

Hacksaw works, a pipe cutter with an industrial blade is easier to produce a perfectly straight cut with though. Hacksaws are usually at least a little off.

As said though: DO NOT CUT OFF TO MUCH! You can take more off later, but putting it back is a real headache.

Me and my friends are usually suprisingly crude.. just get a hacksaw.. put your hand on the bar where you'll be holding it and just start cutting like a 1/4" from where your hand ends...

Make sure you mesure before you cut! What kind of bars are they? and whats the current width? Oh yea how wide is the crossbar?

you dont need to measure, as long as your hands fit right. Both sides of my bars are different lengths to acomidate for there being a brake lever on one side. you can messure if you want it precise, but I just use my hand on the bar to messure.

cut bars yourself, cut seatpost to almost nought. one way.

hacksaw.....and a file......its simple.
