Argon 18 1990 (Colombus tubing)
Hey there, first post.
I have a 1989/1990 Argon 18 (frame made by Marinoni) lugged Columbus SL steel & chromed chainstay; campagnolo dropouts with full Campagnolo athena graphite grouppo (Brake levers, brakes, speed levers, front and rear derailler, crankset, headset, 2x hubs mounted on tubular Kevlar 3D), San Marco Concor saddle, Cinelli steam and handlebar, marin seatpost, sachs maillard 6 gear freewheel, etc.
Color is olive, in great shape overall.
What's it worth ?
(P.S: I'm in Montreal, where the market is insane right now and simple Peugeot UO10 will go for up to 300$)
Thanks !

Constant tinkerer
Picture is almost worthless. Can you get some better ones? If UO-10s are really selling for $300 then this bike could be worth well over a grand. But realistically around here I would guess more like $800-$900. Realize local sales are much tougher on the high end bikes than the low end ones. Ebay is the way to get the most money out of this bike if you can present it well enough.

Looks like its in pretty good condition. Based on what i see, you'd be easily be able to get $4-500 for it. If you wait it out; you might find a buyer in the $600 range.

And I was wondering, tubular are kind of a pain in the city - but should I keep those Campy Kevlar 3D or swap them with a pair of Wolber Profile TX (Made in France) mounted on Maillard hubs and Schwalbe Stelvio tire.
The Campagnolo riding is really smooth, but a flat tire is wating to happen here in Montreal, that's why I'm hesitating on putting on clincher - any advide would be appreciated!

Even though it may be made by Marinoni and you're located in a hot market, it doesn't have a lot going for it. Athena is fairly low end and the graphite finish wasn't popular. The single color and decals make it look bland. The embossing looks cheap. Seat stay attachment to the lug is unattractive. Tubulars aren't popular outside the race crowd and a racer will want brifters and more than 6 cogs. There's little bling to attract buyers. You might get $500 but only because it's Montreal.

And how much would the Camapgnolo Athena groupset be worth on his own - I'm thinking of maybe removing it from the bike and selling the group only.
Appraisal would be appreciated, thanks !

Parting it out is they way to go. The group is sufficiently rare that it is hard to put a number on. I think on ebay well cleaned and photographed you could see $300-$500 for the group.. I would sell the graphite parts all together including BB. the hubs and headset should be sold separately. I would be surprised if you could get more then $500-$600 for the bike on craiglists but who knows, it would have to be from someone with money that wanted to buy cool factor. The parts are certainly nothing that special, but they are cool.
