Bianchi SLX Value/worth it?

Hello! I am brand new to this site. I've visited before looking for values of bikes but just now finally registered.

So I've been lurking ebay looking for a bianchi and I found this listing

53cm Bianchi SLX | eBay

It looks like they did a fantastic job on the build and I really like the look. I just want to know if what he's asking for it is ridiculous, or how much you would recommend I offer the seller for it?

Repaints are generally a real downer in terms of the value of a bike. You have no idea what was going on before the repaint. Plus the value of the bike is that it was a vintage bike; it really isn't at this point. Pretty cheesy to charge $2k and only provide one water bottle cage. You can get a similar quality bike for significantly less.

I see. I guess I hadn't thought about them just painting over any old frame. I think I'll pass on this one..

To get you a ballpark figure ... given that it's been repainted and with the parts attached to it, which are a complete mix ... on top of not being able to prove that it's an SLX frame (unless you find the spirals in the seat tube) or weigh it ... and the frame not being the typical bianchi green ... I'd say the price needs to remain under $1000 ... which is why the other member said he's in la la land

Yes it's ridiculous. It's priced at more than double what it's worth, including shipping, given that it's a re-paint and a mixed group. I paid less than 1/3 as much for a DeRosa that is, IMHO worth at least as much as that Bianchi.

That is a good looking bike but nothing particularly special about it. DA 9 speed is good stuff, but not very expensive. $850 tops, including shipping.

It looks very cheaply done to my eye and that powdercoated crankset looks really awful.

Old Dura Ace Bianchis are not hard to find in the $500 neighbourhood and they won't have been manhandled like this one has been.

Think about this, a powder coat is very expensive about 150. This bike is worth about 600.00. Stripped down about 400 for parts and 225 for frame, 50 for tires.

This looks like a 1989-90 frame. The frame was used for the Giro, Mondiale and Super Leggera builds of the period. The paintjob is horrible though. They painted over the fork crown and the dropouts. I wouldn't pay more than $500 for it.

Ridiculous is an appropriate word for the $2000 asking price. Ugh job on the powdercoat - looks like they PCd the crankarms, too!

I might pay $350 and use it as my rain bike
