Dunelt Roadster questions
I am trying to find the fair value of that I think is a Dunelt Roadster but I have found nothing here or elsewhere. I have checked the completed listings on the US and UK ebay sites.
There is a member of extended family who has a one of these that belonged to her father. He passed away decades ago and the bike hasn't been used since. She has no interest in keeping it and she needs to money. I don't want to give her any less than it is worth but I also don't want to drastically overpay for what might become a decoration in my basement. I will not be flipping it.
It has been years since I've seen it so I can't answer too many questions about it. If I recall, it has rod brakes. I don't think it has a leather saddle. I vaguely recall that it had the type of kick-stand that pivots on the rear axle.
Can anyone give me a ball park figure for it?

From what you describe, it is really difficult to say. I've seen Brit roadsters with rod brakes go for $30 to $300 depending on condition, age, luck. Earlier this summer I paid $65 for a 1970 Raleigh roadster with leather saddle, but that was quite a good deal. I'm hoping to sell it refurbished for about $200, but that's in a seller's market and it's now in excellent mechanical condition. Sorry not to be more helpful.

Maybe others can chime in with thoughts on an absolute maximum price and I can go with that.

...does it have a 3 speed hub ? If so, there's a date code on that hub shell. The age has a lot to do with value. After Raleigh bought Dunelt, they produced a lot of bikes that were lesser Raleigh Sports type bicycles. Those are pretty common, thus unlikely to be very valuable.
OTOH, something made before Raleigh bought them would be worth more to a collector.
It's impossible to tell you more without some photos or a better idea on age and condition of the bike.
