Club Fuji - whole v.s. part out value
I have a 84’ club Fuji that’s 61 cm that I don’t know what to do with. I’m between cleaning it up and reselling as a whole or parting it out. I’m leaning toward parting it out due to the fact that where I’m living for the summer (Greensboro, NC) does not have a strong vintage market to say the least and I just want to get it out of the way. Can anyone speak to the value of selling whole compared to parting out? The frame is in great condition as is the rest of the bike, but obviously needs consumables and the usual going over, anyone have any feedback one way or another? Thanks in advance!

Club Fuji parts are pretty ordinary and probably not in big demand. But, as a complete bike I've seen those go for up to $300. Fuji's are great value bikes for vintage enthusiasts and, can sell pretty fast because they're more affordable than old Italian & French stuff. You can also consider taking it to a local bike shop & ask if they want to sell it on consignment.

Large frame, that head tube looks bigger than a 61cm frame but you have it there to measure. Sell it complete. It looks very clean but due to size and probably a small CL market don't be upset if it goes for $250 or less. I have sold my share of big bikes and there are fewer large guys and they don't seem to want to spend a whole lot on vintage down tube shifter bikes. YMMV.

Greensboro, NC is the home of Cycles de Oro, owned and operated by Dale Brown, listmeister of the Classic Rendezvous list. It's also the original home church of the Cirque du Cyclisme, which is returning next June for at least one more time. I would suggest calling Dale at Cycles de Oro and seeing what he has to suggest. Seriously.

Parts are meh. Clean up the bike and sell it on ebay. The above "I've seen those go for up to $300" is probably not an actual selling price, merely an asking price. Recent ebay sold comp at $200 + $75 shipping.

oddjob2, you're so tight you squeak when you walk. You know $300 isn't an unreasonable amount to ask for a pretty red Club Fuji. Ask for $300 but, take $250 if it's offered.

When I ride, I don't squeak.
Better off pricing it close to your threshold price. Ninety percent of what I sell goes for asking price, the others maybe 10% off if the buyer is polite.

Looks to be great bike as it is and while great functional parts there not worth a lot so I would say keep it whole. Considering the nice very clean basically ready to ride condition I would say offer it for $250 well presented on CL.

Blah group, missing lever hoods, old tires, XL size, no chrome, $200.
The vintage bikes here that bring more money have more pop with chrome, and tend to be medium sized, or better yet, small sized.
$250 here is really hard to get, unless it is modern.
Part outs from that era need higher end components: Suntour Cyclone or higher, Shimano 600 or higher, anything Campy; or some of the old school MTBs. And be prepared for left overs that don't sell. If in good condition, I donate them to the co-op.

Thank you all for your feed back, its very much appreciated! I have started to clean it up and get it ready for sale with new tires cables and whatnot. Was thinking about putting hoods on it but not sure if I will end up doing so
