1985 Mountain Klein

I've seen a bunch of klein mountain bikes, but not sure what this one is worth: https://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/bik...318435244.html

Any info or ideas?

The subject bicycle is outfitted with Shimano New Deore XT derailleurs and shift levers. If OEM, that would make it no older than 1987. Of course, it could have been upgraded or built from a frameset, using a mix of components but we don't know that without the serial number. If it's a first year frame, then the value is not unreasonable but if it's later, I'd want it for significantly less.

San Francisco is a high dollar town for used bikes so the price may be OK. There seems to be a dimple in the frame on the downtube near where it joins the headtube. That could be a scratch, it could it an artifact of the photo, or it could be a dimple in the frame. You don't want a crashed frame so you'll need to check it out. Also Kleins often had a press fit bottom bracket (I'm not sure if all of them did or just some of them). That can be a pain to service.

I saw the same dimple and got worried too, but it appears to the the entry point for internal cable routing.

Yet you can get a new Cannondale Quick 4 for about $550.
Even in the DC Metro I would have a hard time getting that price for that bike.

With mixed components that are unlikely to be all original and not so great looking wheels and tires. I would say the price is high even or SF I would put it around $250 in a hot market in most US cities you would have a hard time getting over $200 or this bike.

With those lousy pics you would have a hard time getting over $100. Even with good pics that bike is nothing special. Maybe if the frame was perfect, and the bike was really clean.

Still, I think the OP needs to look at some other bike, especially the one I mentioned.
