I'm wondering what a fair price for my 1982 Peugeot PSV-10 S would be. I'm positive of the year, its the French version and the decals are different from the US. Its in excellent condition with no rust and minimal paint wear. Super Vitus 980 tubing, lugged, double butted. Suntour bar end shifters were installed along with leather handlebar wrap. The rest looks stock (except for a generic saddle). The crankset is drilled and made by Stronglight. I appreciate any opinions. I put it up on my local craigslist but didn't get any bites, I wonder if eBay would be a better market for it?

Sewups will bring it down/as buyer would want to replace. The helicomatic isn't much of a sought after freewheel. I picked up an 82 for around $100-nice frames; really deserve better parts imo. First year for the model was 82/83 had more decals.

I don't think they are tubulars but they certainly are in need of replacing. I love those chainrings.

Small things like hoods that don't fit, worn out tires, and brake cable routing issues keep it from bringing top dollar.

Tires do need replacing, but I've been debating replacing them. Don't want to replace them with a cheap ass tire but I don't want to spend a lot on expensive tires if it won't significantly increase the final sale.

I might go looking for better fitting hoods at my co-op.

What are the cable routing issues that you see?

So not top dollar, but an estimate?

The brake cables are way too short and route unnaturally ahead of the bars. The shift cable from Barcons are too short too, and they all look pretty bent over.

The brake levers are dull - ALL alloy components should shine like chrome- if you want top dollar.

The tires need to be replaced - it's not a matter of getting your money back nor buying the most expensive tires - It is a matter of making road ready and safe. Buyers don't want to pay full market if even the slightest thing needs attention.

I would estimate that with complete clean up and tune up, and a more suitable period saddle, it would sell for around 400 (more or less depending on your area).

From the 82 US catalog. Like I said very desirable frame. $400 is a little high/maybe 3 cleaned up with new hoods and tires. But yes it depends on area as well.

I think $400 is attainable for this bike, but just to reemphasize what I said before - you would have to spend some significant money to get it there. I.e.:

New tubulars -or- new rims and clinchers, and a correct or at least good quality period saddle, along with the usual rehab.
That would be my approach anyway, if I were selling such a bike.

Alternatively, you could sell it as a project bike for 175-200 and come out ahead financially.

Not sure why you are linking to the US catalog, I said in the original post its the French version. You can see it matches with the 1982 French catalog here: https://cyclespeugeot.com/PDFs/1982French.pdf . There's even a 2 page spread of the bike. I am missing one of the smaller lion badges but I haven't been able to find it online.

They aren't tubulars, they're clinchers. I have an Ideale 90 saddle that came with the bike that I had planned to sell separately, but I haven't had much luck. Here's a pic. I should be able to find better hoods at my coop and the rest of the repairs you suggested aren't that much effort.

I took some polishing paste to the brake levers and stem, it made an amazing difference. I'll post pictures when I get new tires in.

An update to the previous posts. The metal has been all shined up, I found better fitting hoods, I installed a more period correct saddle (from a Schwinn, I'm going to keep my eyes out for a better one), and replaced the tires. Unfortunately the tires I ordered were 27" and apparently the rims are 700C. The rims are Mavic Module E2, which were made in both 27" and 700c and the rim doesn't indicate which, I guessed wrong. Luckily I had some Continental Super Sports in my garage, not brand new but better than the old ones. New tires will have to wait till my next parts order. I haven't redone the cabling yet.

Any more thoughts on the handlebar wrap? Should I keep it as-is or replace with white cork tape?

Gorgeous bike roburrito.
- the leather bar tape will be a plus for some people and a neutral for others. As long as it is undamaged/clean I would not spend more on bar tape for the flip.
