The Peugeot PX10 is a great old bicycle and very collectible. The one shown is in great shape and, in my opinion, offered at a reasonable price. I would buy it myself, if I were in the market for a 10. But I am not. I let my PX10 go for a thousand dollars plus shipping, another $225.00. Mine was in great shape and had the more desirable fancy lug work...

Seems a little high to me, but it's not crazy. I'd say it's more of a $600 bike.

This seems high to me - I usually see px-10s from the 70s selling for around $500-$600 on eBay. 400-500 on CL. I have passed them up at $300 as flips and don't have much interest in owning one as a rider.
Px-10s are not in the same category as some others...like Paramounts, Raleigh pros, Italians or some of the other frenchies. There are more of them and the parts are less desirable for starters.

Some sources have indicated that Eugene Christophe, whose name graced vast numbers of toe clips, rode Peugeots during his heart-breaking Tour de France attempts in 1913 and 1919. and some of the other Peugeot team riders were riding on PX-10's anyway.
I would not have guessed that was a 1976 bike in the photos, but I don't know enough about them to say it's not.

Final point on local sales. Every market has a cap, above that, it is nearly impossible to sell a vintage bike, no matter how nice. As a result, that is often where the BEST DEALS can be found on C/L. While everyone is looking for a $50 deal, few are looking for a $400 smoking hot deal (my market's cap). So a buyer with a healthy budget can do very well on C/L. Its the cheaply priced stuff that goes fast.

Still learning
In addition, PX10 market has softened significantly since Randy's sale. Recent sales on ebay are in the $400 to $600 range. Typically, higher end bikes sell for a discount on local markets, realize seller doesn't have to pay all the fees nor endure the hassles that come with ebay.

The flippers are the experts on what bikes should sell for, but that one is especially desirable to me. SLJ derailers, Maillard 700 hubs, an Ideale 90 saddle, last generation MAFACs with full hoods and "drilled" levers and the Stronglight 99 crankset make it worth more to me than the average PX10 I see for sale. I wouldn't feel too bad about paying more than they say I should for that one. All it needs is Retrofriction shifters.

I've been looking at that one, too (not to buy - just looking). I thought it was a bit high, but not necessarily unresonable. But it has been listed for almost a month at that price, and I doubt it will sell for that asking price. A few months ago, I bought a vintage bike in the Twin Cities that had been listed for a month. I offered the guy 25% less than his asking price, and he accepted. If the seller really wants to sell the PX10, he will likely come down. When you see the bike, make sure it fits you (at least sit on it in your riding position and get a good feel for the top tube length) and then make some sort of offer. You might be surprised - or you might be rebuffed, but at least you'll have an idea where the seller stands.
