Red Schwinn Traveler (Made in Japan)

Hi everyone!

Just joined the forum and would love to get some feedback on my bike's worth. I was in the process of converting it to a single speed commuter, but I haven't had any time with my crazy work schedule.

Everything is original except the Mavic CXP 22 wheels. What do you think I'd be able to sell it for on Craigslist in the San Francisco Bay Area?

Thank so much!

Single speed + no brakes = uhhhh....

Better hook up that front brake AND attach a rear brake if you want to sell it as a single speed. As a fixed gear, a front brake only is ok. As-is it's a project bike. People don't want project bikes, they want ready to ride. Around here I'd say $50-75 because the wheelset is probably worth that much but oddjob's assessment is probably closer for the SF Bay area.

lots of fixie types ride here with no brakes (not even front)- so I am not sure that is a problem per say. more that its not done and does not have "the look" to get a hipster to pay for it.

Thanks for all of your replies! It was supposed to be a fun side project for me, but I don't think I'm going to have any time to finish it.

There's a big difference between single speed and fixed gear. Single speed = freewheel, how do you plan to slow down without a brake? You're stuck putting your foot in the tire or bailing off the bike.

Fixed gear with no brakes is incredibly stupid but I know people do it. Single speed with no brakes renders the bike unrideable.

I would say in it's current state about $100 for the wheel set and $20 for the bike. If you still have all the parts from before you started the conversion I would quickly put the bike back together as original and sell it and sell it for $75 or so and sell the new wheel set sepertley.

Wheels look like they're worth more than the frame. I don't think anybody will call if you go any higher than $80.
