Motobecane ID help ( totally new at this)
I just got this bike and am totally lost when it comes to anything other than a muscle bike, any help would be appreciated.
If you need more pics or info, just let me know.
Thank you,
John

Have a look at the catalogs at that link. The bikes with inexternal brazing (like yours) will be in the '80's. I'm not super familiar with those models. Off the top of my head, I would say your bike looks like it's been re-painted and has a lot of non-factory parts. Not necessarily a bad thing if you just want to ride it.
[edit] Are you in the states or Europe? The models are different.

No, don't think it's that high in the chain, I think the OLD style Columbus decal (added by PO) is throwing this off: the OTHER decal is the original I think and it's more commonplace Hi-tensile steel. As are the fork blades even tho chrome plated. I think it HAS been treated to various component upgrades, and the frame is nothing special but I knew of one that a friend made into a SS daily-rider and he was fine with it.
EDIT: Actually I may have been wrong about the Hi-tensile decal, my guess is that it IS either a Grand Jubilee or (more likely) a Jubilee Sport

not from what i can see in the '84 catalog scan on Bulgier's site, they both look to be in the same spot and both frames seem very similar except for the components. The Jubilee Sport does have those Suntour Symmetric clamp-on shifters which the Grand Jubilee does not.

It could be a Mirage Sport. I think quite a few parts have been changed out from original. Cleaned and lubed it will be a very nice bike.

This is a mutt in terms of the parts but most of them look pretty decent. This could be a grand jubilee with all the nice parts taken off other than the campy FD. Usu. parts on a bike are pretty meaningless in terms of figuring out the model but in this case, the FD is high quality and it's a bit weird compared to the mish mash of parts on that bike (the crane RD is pretty nice as well).

Sounds like you're fishing for a sale. Please note one has to upgrade in order to sell on this site (see "Solicitation" in the Forum Rules section of the FAQs).
Thread closed until OP either upgrades (at which time thread will be moved to the appropriate section) or chooses not to upgrade (which will result in thread being Trashed).
