Faehnrich Falter Super Star folding bike
Barn find in a Philadelphia garage. It has some light surface rust but appears to be very original.
The light works and all parts and tools are there. All parts necessary to fold the bike are fully functioning.
Chain, rear hub, gears all work. It is a 3 speed.
Made in Germany. West Germany
Even the tires are original, white wall Veith Extra prima tires, 26 x 1 3/8 size.
Please let me know how to proceed.
What is the value of this bicycle?
It is fully functioning.

European folders of this era are not in high demand in my experience. Heavy hi-ten steel frame, cottered cranks, generally low-rent parts all point toward occasional use rather than a daily rider or commuter. Original tires are not a plus if they're already 30-40 yr. old. I'd much prefer newer rubber as a safety cushion for blowouts or dry rot.
I doubt it would bring much. Maybe $50-75 if cleaned, needed parts replaced, lubricated and ready to go, and less if not in that condition.

So here is a picture. thanks for your reply
Hi, thanks for the reply.
I may end up keeping this rare bike bc there is no real value but it is so cool. $40-50 gets me fully new whitewalls with new tubes and strips then it will be good to go.

The hours required for a total dismantle and clean/polish/ wax/lube while purchasing consumables would be totally worth it if I could pick it up at Indianapolis International and buy your lunch during your layover
Then I would happily display it folded up hanging in my garage
It is a very cool bike though
