Thoughts on $50 for this as a restoration project? Not looking to flip it. Just a cool bike to have.

I'd buy it if I wanted another. Looks complete and solid.

Hah! I was just browsing Boston CL and saw that listing. It's quite a rusty beast, that saddle looks too far gone, but otherwise looks complete. My guess is it dates from the early 1960s. If it's your size and you have lots of patience (and lots of rust-remedies), the price is somewhat reasonable (I'd try to knock $10-20 off given the condition).

Thanks gents. This would be my first restoration. Too much for a first timer? Or great chance to learn?

The oxidation is pretty well advanced.
If you wish to work with the bike one approach might be to focus on the mechanicals - get everything cleaned and lubricated and ignore the cosmetics.
To get it nice looking once again is doable but a tall order...

This ad is still up. Late 50s 21" in good shape. I really like this one.
