Trek 400 elance listed for $175.00 is this a good deal?

Looks very clean. The form will not let me post pictures or links..

Does not sound unreasonable, but I couldn't find an Elance on the Indy Craigslist. If you could say where the add is, folks might look it up aand give a better opinion. It's obviously an older bike, and condition is everything here.

I found it on FaceBook Market Place. It is located in Mooresville IN.

If the bike fits you and is in good shape that is a good price. Never owned one but I did look at one once and was impressed with it.

I saw the ad and it looks in good shape, decent tires even. The seat post looked way beyond the minimum insertion point. Probably too small for the rider.

This bike ended up being junk :(

Would like to see pics of what you found. I'm on the lookout for an Elance 400...not sure what one is worth, but the right color and condition to me could be $300.

That's a great deal, IMO. If only it were sparkly blue. :giver:

I got one for $140, but would have paid more to avoid figuring out how to touch up the "sparkly blue"

What size are you looking for? I have a blue w/silver headtube 52 cm Elance 400 that is in better than average condition that I might be talked out of.

Not to hijack, but I'm looking for a 56cm sparkly all-blue ride.

That wasn't a top of the line model but is still a very nice bike and significantly better quality than anything new for 2-3 times that. If it is in good shape, $175 is a good price.

Are there any trouble areas on these bikes to pay attention to? I’ve got my eye on one, but am interested in swapping more modern components onto it...I recently acquired a Nishiki Tri A with Shimano 600 group set, and the Elance I’m looking at is similarly equipped, so stripping it would give me some back up parts for the Nishiki which I don’t intend to mess with.

Price on the elance I’m looking at is $160, I can’t post a link until I hit 10 posts...

Did you get the Elance? I believe I was looking at the same one. Red/black full Shimano 600. Looked like a good bike to ride.

Unfortunately not, but I’m sure there will be more opportunities...had to get the wife a new phone!
