Nice condition, chromed stays, 531 and Simplex that looks an awful lot like Campy super Record. I'd love to learn more about this frog. Lots of good buys out there now!

What cranks are those? lightened with drill holes is it Stronglight? Is Stronglight French?

The crank is a early 80's Spidel 106 with upgraded drilled mavic chainrings.

This price is decent. I live near enough to Minneapolis. I'd tempted to break my New Year's Resolution and buy it if the OP weren't interested in buying it. Heck that would only be the 3d time I've broken it this year. This is a special bike. The brake levers don't look right.

I know a company named Zeus made components that looked like campy and they seem to be quite rare. I have never heard of Spidel components.

Spidel is rebranded mafac, stronglight, simplex, and maillard. Absolutely top of the line French stuff and very desireable I think. The brake levers look to be Gipiemme with dia compe brake hoods. Gipiemme sold a lot of rebranded French stuff but those brake levers aren't right on that bike.

Assuming you can negotiate another bike with your spouse, the price is decent. This bike is, I think, fully the equal of a top end Italian bike from that era with top flight campagnolo components. And those bikes tend to go for more than $495. I also happen to really like French bikes.

But the pandemic is likely pushing down the market for top end vintage bikes. I know I'm passing on new old bikes at this point for that reason. So I guess I'm keeping my New Year's resolution after all,

Of course there are ways to buy bikes while engaging in social distancing . . .

I agree that it looks like a very well put together bike. Lots of quality parts.

Fair price for a really nice riding bike, in my opinion. I had something similar, years ago, but it was too big for me (rode it anyway).

$495? I don't think so, not at that price. It will be a nice riding bike, for certain. I wouldn't buy it for more than $250 as it sits, but that's me. I agree with the above poster, the brake levers don't look right. In today's world as a seller, I would expect no more than $325 for that bike.

I have a 77 PY10. I am not considering selling it, but I would not sell it for $495. I paid $300 Canadian and did a total tear down. It is original except for new Cables and housing, new cotton bar tape, new Panaracer Pasela tires, and new toe clips.

Was the PY10 a step up from the PX-10? I own what I believe to be a 75/76 PX-10 and I thought that was the top of the heap. Unfortunately, I will be passing it on with never riding it because it is quite a bit too small.

Yes, the PY10 was hand built in the "Prestige Peugeot" workshop. Each PY10 was custom ordered. I am the third owner of mine. It was ordered with gold anodized drive train and brake components.
"Peugeot opened its new “Prestige Peugeot” workshop towards the end of 1974 for the production of hand-made bicycles for the Peugeot racing team and for private customers. Until this time the top Peugeot racing machine was designated the PX10 which was built in the main factory at Beaulieu. I think this bike will sell, even as the bottom falls out of the market for luxury goods.

Cranks and chain rings can be anodized. Most new aluminium ones are, but in silver or black. One issue with anodizing gold, black, or any colour that is different than the base metal is, if it is on a wear surface it will eventually wear off and the silver colour of the aluminium comes through.
Without anodizing, the aluminium parts on my PY10 polished up nice with Mothers Aluminium Wheel Polish.

Price is quite decent, if the paint is close to perfect under the dust and grime it might have, and zero rust.
the PYs were pretty much the top of the line Peugeots back then and they did go all the way with the best French component group at that time. Thst bike would surely sell to an 80's Peugeot fan for that price I would have seriously considered getting that bike, if it was local to me. The only reason it has not sold yet might be because of the present crashing economy cause of the virus.
