Devinci - Race Team Livery..?
I stumbled across this old, seven cog and triple ring Devinci today. To be honest, I am pretty darn excited about this find. The price was right - free, at the local landfill site that is close to where my lake cottage is. Anyway, my size and in all mechanically good, except for a broken right brake/shifter lever. I have been looking for a decent mountain bike to ride the roads around my lake cottage, and this one looks like it will fit the bill, perfectly. Needs cables, brake pads, proper handle bar that I have, and a saddle without a rip in it. And, of course an Acera seven speed shift/brake lever.
What value would you put on a this old mountain bike?

I like the paint color cleaned up and serviced with everything in good working order I would say $150-200. Should make a nice basic rider for casual trail riding.

RS had so many models of forks, I would wonder about the need for service? May not, or might be archaic.

Now that the fork is mentioned I do see one possible minor issue the steerer length stack height is a bit on the short side for adjusting things if the stem or bars are changed it would be nice to see room for one or two more spacers. Not a deal breaker on a free bike though worst case one could get a nice fork or a donor bike with a nice fork for $75 if they like the bike otherwise.. Nicer mid level aluminum frame MTB's from the 90's are often over looked as a good low cost option for what randyjawa intends to use the bike for can often be. had cheap or even free and fairly nice used or new upgrade replacement parts are relatively cheap easy to find .I have a similar bike I got for free as salvage and ride a lot a Schwinn Mesa GSX not sure who actually made either but I'm pretty sure it was the same maker.

Got mine nicely setup with good tires new chain brake pads cables seat post, bars and a stem, nice Deore, Sram bits off another free donor bike for under $100.
