Serotta Classique Ti Coupled. First look.

This was recently donated to our All-Volunteer charity in Rochester NY. Just like "Pawn Stars", we never know what's going to come in through those doors. This is a very nice Serotta Classique Ti with S$S Couplers. We do have the travel case for it. We'll begin the doll-up and will sell it to help pay our expenses in providing 2500 free refurbished bikes to those in need in our area along with 4000+ free repairs.

It's full Campy Record as you can see in the photos. We don't know the year. What might be a fair price for this bike?

As usual, thanks to all in advance for your help.

Interesting bike have you had chance to make sure the couplers and quick tear down mechs work good so you can put it in the carrying case in about ten minutes. It was claimed these late 90's coupled bikes could be put in case in little time and were fully competition race worthy. Pretty lofty but if true I think you could get $1000-1200 on pretty quick easy local sale nice get for a free donation to a bike charity.

Cleaned up and tested -- if all working I'd list it on bigger market FB and CL -- NYC, etc. and/or eBay if you have a presence there. The S&S couplers as a conversion are $800+ to have done, and that's a great frame and great components. I'd not go less than $1500.

I'd also say late 90s frameset but maybe a few years later upgrade since the crankset at least isn't the first version of the Record carbon cranks and being compact might make it early 00s. I'd guess right around a 1000.00 selling price. Couplings on a racing bike is nice if you're going to travel and just ride out from hotels, ti like this would be a great boat bike for someone who likes to ride/train/race. As an actual touring bike where the couplings, IMHO are more valuable, this just isn't a great bike for the purpose, and I say that as someone who traveled with a DeRosa with couplings. To me, what makes it least desirable is the 1" fork, just won't be easy to swap it out for a 1" threadless fork that'll take a threadless stem with a removable faceplate. The best feature of the threadless system is the ease of removing bars or stem to remove the work and make it even more packable. I also noticed at the last Brooklyn bike jumble there were a good number of Serotta framesets that weren't selling even at 400 for steel and 600 for ti, wife threatened me if I came home with a 500.00 1 1/8 fork ti serrotta in 54cm and it never sold.

Part it out.

Goofy frameset may take ages to sell but the components are very desirable.

FWIW, an S&S coupled frame set is also pretty desirable for folks who want a bike that they can take on a plane with minimal hassle -- and this one, being high quality titanium, is even better -- no paint loss issues when packing, and likely a very good ride.

It's not worth a lot if it doesn't fit.

Might as well enjoy the proceeds of the components while you wait for someone who thinks he can make that giant headtube work for him.

Had those Nucleons been silver hubbed tubulars I'd be on my way now

I wonder if you could cut down the headtube and fork to make it more "normal" sized?

There was some weird wonky stuff going with the host carrier for this site and bunch of social media sites yesterday. It seems to have been cleared up corrected now.
