Motobecane Le Champion
I purchased this bike a while back but it's really too big for me. I was wondering how much this bike is maybe worth.
It's an older model I believe, it also has universal brakes and says compagnolo nuovo record as well as made in france. Any help identifying what year/how much this is worth would be great.

Circa 1972-1973 looks about right. The rims and tires are non-orignal and it has a spoke protector. The big question is whether those wheels are rebuilt or replacements? The other notable notable questionmark is, what saddle is under that cover? The answers to these questions will substantially influence the value.
If the bicycle is too big, why is that stem so high? You're lucky it hasn't popped out while riding.

I just brush the mildew off with a stiff brush and then hit it with some neatsfoot oil.
How long is that seat tube? 58? 60? My dad has one just like that (i posted it under "my dad's Motobecane" a while back.
I'd get another if the price was right.

I have one I bought in 73. The saddle is a Brooks professional. The wheels are not original at all. the brake hoods are impossible to get. If the FD and RD are Campy, the rest is original, except for the seat pinch bolt. Originally there were three cable clamps on the top tube - Huret.

Not a Le Champion-- they're one step below top of the line. Upper entry level Motos are going for $200 these days. I'd guess more like $300 in that condition. But just a guess. Bike prices are so whack these days, I just don't know any more.
