Motobecane Grand Jubilee

Just won this bike on the 'bay for $155.

These are the auction pictures, and they aren't great.

I think it might have been mentioned in the CL/EB finds thread, not sure. It's being sold by a storage company as unclaimed property. They don't know bikes and didn't measure it before having it boxed. Reportedly it has Suntour GT components. From what is visible, there doesn't seem to be much wear to me.

Questions:

-how big do you think it is? It appears to be a fairly large frame.
-fixed up (and possibly with a period correct saddle) what would it be worth in your market?

Gamecat, are you sitting down? The front fork looks bent. If the bike was in good condition, needing only tires/tubes I'd say you could probably get $225-240 in our Los Angeles area. If the fork is bent, forget about it. Good luck

+1 Front fork appears bent.

But your local dealer should be able to straighten it for a small charge.

Be sure to check the top tube and down tube for possible buckling. This will appear close to the front lug/head tube.

Looks like around a 24 inch frame to me.

If it's bent I'll be bringing it to the co-op for advice and commiseration.

The pictures really are low-res--but I do see what could be a slight indentation where the forks curve towards the dropouts.

Looks like around a 24 inch frame to me.
That's about what I estimated. Since it's a moto, there's a slight chance I'll be able to ride it. (I'm a little over 5'11". ) So if the fork's bent but it's not too huge for me I might just slap another fork on it and ride it, I suppose.

If you put another for on, save this one for straightening later. The bike will be worth less with a replacement fork, in my opinion. And do check the top and down tubes for any signs of damage near the lugs.
