Hey guys I just picked up an Older 63cm Chicago made Schwinn Le tour with Some upgrades for a good price.Its Cromoly and it says Tru temper made in usa. Tell me what you think! And guess how much i paid. ( seriously i'd like to know what you guys think its worth)
Also if anyone knows what year is it that would be great.
It has Shimano 105 brakes and Levers
Shimano 600 rear derailure and shift lever
Campagnolo (i dont know the model) Front derailure and dura ace shift lever
Carbon Composite Fork
Cinelli Bars with fresh doda bar tap and gel under there which is nice on the hands
Aftermarket stem. Cant tell which brand yet
Brooks Saddle
Mavic Acsium Wheels with Michellin tires
It had Keo peddles for clips for i took them off and put some nice old school ankle biters on there.

I dont know if its stock or not but it has a nice Sugino Crank too.

Well, it appears to be a very heavily upgraded so/so quality frame. The parts are a very eclectic mix, but all good quality stuff. The Campagnolo front derailleur looks to be a later version Nuovo Record with the holes in the cage.

This bike is probably worth more sold in pieces since it is such a mix. I would guess you have a good amount of value in parts for sure. It's not a bad frame or anything, just a strange choice for this build?

Yeah, I'd say you did pretty good for sure. I don't know much about the wheel set, but Mavic can't be cheap. I bet you got your moneys worth right there. Then add in the Brooks saddle (even with the sagging) and other good parts I would say thumbs up.

I don't want you to think I am knocking the mixed bag build. It's kind of fun in its own way. I would put more of a modern front derailleur on, but not for any reason other than the look.

Well done. It appears that only the crankset is original. My guess is it is an '87 Super Le Tour. Look for a small 4 digit number stamped vertically in the head badge. Post this number. The last digiet would be the year. This can get you started.

I think you did great! I recently paid more for mine and drove 7 hrs round trip to get it. A bike is worth whatever someone can get or it, and also it depends on what you are looking for and what's available in your area. I'm OK with my purchase because nothing in my size was available in cromoly except new bikes. I hope that bike is your size cuz it looks big! Enjoy the bike, it looks like a good ride!!!

You did very well. From the look of that stem, the old owner must have been pretty tall.

That indeed seems to be an '87. I just picked up an 87 in the other color available, white. Also happened to be 63cm frame. Mine is completely stock, you definitely got a good deal with all the upgrades. I was trying to find a similarly configured bike, but ended up settling with mine. Here is the catalog that shows the white frame and the "additional color" in red. If you go to the next page it shows the original specs, which include the sugino crank. Happy riding, looking forward to hitting the road in mine!

One more thing, I have seen similar confusion to the location of the USA built schwinns of this vintage and it was actually made in the Greenville, MS factory. 3347 is the serial number. Yea its tall but im 6'3 so i fit well. If i were to re sell this bike ever what do you think its worth with all the goodies?

I have a hard time valuing a Frankenbike like this one. Buyers of better bikes tend to want ones with consistent group components throughout. Depending where you live, $200. Parted out it could do better.

thievery, for sure. Parted out, $300. As is, $150-$175.

Medium level frame, much better components than OEM.

I just cleaned and lubed and sold one like that, same color, with the original Sachs-Huret drivetrain, Maillard hubs on Weinmanns, little Bontrager take-off saddle, Stronglight crankset, DC brake set, for $100. I think I could have gotten more, but the kid was so excited, I gave him extra tires, tubes, and a set of aero bars, too.

If it had come with those parts, someone would have a ss/fixie frame, and I'd be using the parts on something else.....
