How much for GT Outpost?

Hi,

I am just getting into bikes and I found a nice GT Outpost at a fair. It is fairly beat up with a bit of rust, but I took it for a spin and rides okay, brakes work. It looks like something from the late 80s, early 90s. I'm not too familiar with bike parts, but the frame says Ishiwata Chrome, many of the parts say Exage system and the chain system says Shimano. It is 18 speed. I think that's all that I jotted down, let me know if you need additional information. It's going for around $100. Just wondering if it's a fair price for this worn out, but still fully functional bike. Thanks!

Hello. well if I recall correctly the Outpost was the entry level ATB for GT back then. if it is clean and everything works $100 does not sound too bad. check to see if the fork is Crhomoly also I can't remember. this is not a serious ATB for banging over rocks ands fallen trees. it is a great bike for rail trails and dirt roads.

2 more things. 1 pics are very helpful for determining a bikes year and approximate value.
2 there is actually a seperate thread for asking for help on bike values.

I hope you enjoy your Outpost.

Fairly beat up with a bit of rust = $25 bike.

ATB and old rigid mtbs are a dime a dozen. No reason to overpay for one in this condition.

+1, I found mine in the trash. All I have left is the frame. It's one of those someday projects. Good luck on yours.

You found it at the fair? Does the owner know this?
