Bianchi Campione D'Italia 1987 - 1989 worth
I found one online for sale and the seller wants me to name a price....make an offer.
he will ship it which is nice.
It is celeste and it appears to be my size.
It needs brake shoes (they re missing), tires are flat and probably dry rotted...and it is dirty but it looks decent and looks to be columbus tubing.
He says he brought it into a lbs and the mechanic says it needs a few minor things but is in good shape. Not sure what that means....
Any idea on a fair offer for this bike? Id like to throw an offer out there but i dont know where to start.

If you could add a pic to this request, someone will be along shortly to help you out.
A component list would also be helpful as well.
I've owned a couple of these with Campy components.
Very nice riding bikes. I think the top I paid for one was $225.

i believe the group is suntour cyclone 7000....
From the pictures the cranks are stronglight and the brakes are Modelo.....
Thats about all i can make out from the pics.
Ive got an entire shimano 600 / campy crankset to go on it from my current bike (which the frame is too large).

Hello, that is a nice looking '88 CdI. too bad it needs brakepads, especially if the 'holders' are gone. most newer brake pads that are as 'deep' as those were do not have the wheel guides. although a good bargining tool. since it needs cleaned, service, tires ($30-75) and brake pads ($10-30) I think $225 to 250 sounds fair.
the original MSRP on these was about $550-580, and was a very nice machine, unlike the '89 and 90s that followed the Sprint 9000 worked very well and IMHO there is little reason to remove it unless you are desperate to put brifters on it.
that TreTubi Superset frame should be a great riding Bianchi. not quite as light as a SL (IIRC TreTubi were a form of ALLE) but the Superset gives it a bit stiffer BB area.

Are the pads a special type of pad? .....the holders you mention make it sound like it might be.
i coud swap over all my parts (campy / shimano 600 / sti) over to this frame and be done with it but that the point im only buying a frame
ive got to take the packing and shipping costs into consideration as well...

the pads are the same size as most Campi pads were then. you can't use like the current style shimano or campy pads you need something thicker. something on this size. IMHO if the pads are too thin the brake caliper is operating past its optimum leverage point.
I might change the calipers, superbe or sprint but if that Cyclone shifts I would leave it alone.

I have a Bianchi Campione D'italia that I had been storing in my garage for quite some time. I have cleaned it up and now I am eager to ride it, but I am curious about what year it is, how much it may be worth....the usual stats.
Here's what I know about it:
-celeste frame, seat and handlebar tape
-serial number stamped on the BB: 871652 with the word "Bianchi"
-Campy front and rear derailleur (I think the rear is a Victory S3 from about 1988)
-Campy shift levers
-Sugino M-type crankset with 52 and 42 tooth rings with 170 mm crank arms
-Suntour 6-speed casette
-Exage Motion brake levers
-ITM handlebars (stamped: "made in Italy")
-front fork has a decal that reads: "Foderi Forcella-Bianchi Formula Columbus"
-seat tube has a sticker, near the BB, that says: "Made in Italy"
-the brakes look like the paint/brand name has been intentionally removed - they are just silver/bare metal (but in good working condition!)
Reading the forums on this page, and finding a rear derailleur that looks exactly like mine, I would guess this bike is from the late 1980s, but I would really like to be able to confirm what year it was made and if it is a classic!

That's a really nice looking bike. Looks like it's in great shape. Around here that bike would sell for somewhere around $200 to $300. $200 is a "sell it now price". $300 is hoping there's a Bianchi collector or admirer out there who really want's your bike and that is the buyer's size. Keep in mind, you did not say if you are in a hot bike market area. That certainly could affect the price.
BTW, the Campione is a nice bike but it is not a "classic" highly desirable model. Too bad, I own two.

Hello Jay, welcome to the forums. great loking Bianchi. where is it, in the US or Canada? well even europe? the decal style looks like '88-89 (some MTBs in '86 and some carryover on Italian bikes in '90) for here in the states but I think the Canadain bikies were a still a bit different then so I am not sure.
the components are all over the map though. most CdIs in that era came with Ofmega, Modolo and Suntour parts. the brake calipers on this look alot like Modolo Quattros but all the dark anodizing buffed off. I am sure the crank was switched by a previous owner but the derailleurs could have been an put on in a early production run or again replaced by a prior owner.
I am with Rocco on this the value is about $200-250 especially with snow flying in half the country. and again while a great bike not a real collectors model. your best value is to ride it and enjoy that great Bianchi ride while you buddies shake their teeth out with those carbon frames

Jay, you've provided us with one critical piece of info that you didn't in your previous thread. The Formula II tubeset eliminates it being a 1989 model. It should be a 1988.

I'm in Calgary, Alberta - despite the coldish weather we have a great cycling community. I would guess this bike is probably a Canadian edition.
I'm off for a short ride before the snow flies here, too! I've also got a Concorde Astore that I am fixing up and I'll post some pictures when she's ready for her photoshoot.

Bianchi Follow-up
Hi all,
I haven't been on the forum for quite some time, but i thought I should update you on the Bianchi. I sold it to to a wonderful biker girl who was looking for the perfect Christmas gift for her biker boyfriend. Sold relatively quickly for $300 (CAD). I was sad to see it go, but very grateful that it is going to a loving, biking family.
