1972 Schwinn Super Sport Worth?

I have a 1972 Schwinn Super Sport. I believe most of the vitals are original. I'm not too familiar with the value of what I have here. Thanks for any feedback!

The value of the super sports are in their frames. The frames are fillet brazed cro-molly like some of the higher models. The components on super sports are mostly steel and fairly heavy (but bomb proof). I wanted one and was watching for a while, they seem to sell pretty easily for $150.00ish. I was looking to spend less of course... I would say I would spend up to 100 dollars on one and more if it was good cosmetic shape.

I have seen super sports go as high as 500-600 dollars for very nice ones, of course I think that is nuts. Schwinns are like that... sometimes you can't get $50.00 then all of a sudden one sells for a giant chunk.

In my area a good rideable Schwinn like that is in the $150.00 range, more if it's show quality.

A Super Sport is very different from a Continental or a Varsity.

The fact they look so much alike leads many people to dismiss the inherently superior Super Sport.

I guess that Super Sport frame I sold a year or so ago for $10 was a pretty good buy

Thanks guys! Most things on the bike seem to be original Schwinn equipment... The only rust on the entire bike is on the rack in the back. I think it's a fine bike. I picked it up today at a farm in Utica, MI for $60. I think it was a fair deal.

The tires are not Schwinn... they're BELL. About 1 year old I think...Not too sure, I'm kind of new to all of this.

Surface rust on the crankset - needs to be cleaned off. Dump the rack as fast as possible; it's in bad shape and scratching the paint. I realize the GB-made Schwinn stems were long too, but not that long. Remove the stem, grease it to prevent aluminum-to-steel bonding in the steerer tube, and re-install it at a safe height.

The rims don't look to be a match. Are they both aluminum, or did someone do the classic trick of throwing a pair of Conti/Varsity wheel (specifically, the rear) on a Super Sport?

You'll have to do a bit of TLC here before it's worth more than you paid for it. Good deal at any rate though.
